Dolato (sometimes called Dosi-lato or Do-si-lato, because it’s a cross of Do-Si-Dos and a Gelato phenotype) is a beautiful weed that delivers an equally beautiful, potent experience.

The flower is bright green with purple streaks, orange pistils wrapped around the colas, and a thick coating of white trichomes. As for the high, it’s smooth and very enjoyable. The cerebral euphoria is stress-busting, calm, and focused, and the physical stone is deeply relaxing and not sedating, even though you may be stuck on the couch for quite a while.

Dolato has an aroma that’s earthy, herbal, and sweet; the flavor is similar, but you’ll taste berries in the mix as well. Despite the light scent and flavor, though, this strain packs a punch. Its average THC content is a whopping 25%.

Effects

The relaxing effects of Dolato come on so gradually that you may not realize that you’re getting high until you’re already there.

The head buzz is a euphoric one, perfect for eliminating any thoughts of day-to-day concerns as well as more serious stress and anxiety. It’s a focused cerebral high that gives some people a boost of calm energy and creativity, perfect for accomplishing tasks that won’t require a lot of physical activity. The overall feeling, however, is one of happiness and contentment.

That feeling spreads through the body, starting with tingles and progressing to a full-fledged body melt. Microdosing might let you get up from the couch to grab munchies, but most will find themselves locked there for the rest of the experience – which is a long one. Dolato’s high is one of the longest-lasting you’ll find. It’s unlikely that you’ll get drowsy or fall asleep, though.

As you’ve certainly guessed, this is a strain best suited to use in the evening or on a day off. You might initially think that you can work right through the uplifting and creative high, but Dolato’s strong relaxation will make anything more than reading, watching TV, or surfing the web a much more attractive option.

Bottom Line: Dolato combines calm and happy euphoria with a strong body stone, letting you while away a peaceful and enjoyable few hours on the couch without becoming sedated.

Side Effects

This is an extremely potent weed, not recommended for novice smokers or those who normally smoke much less potent bud.

Those users, and even experienced ones who consume too much Dolato, may find themselves nervous, anxious, dizzy, or even panicked, particularly if they’re already dealing with anxiety issues. Paranoia is also possible. All but the most dedicated smokers should start very slowly with this strain.

You should also expect the usual side effects of strong weed, like dry throat, dry eyes, and possible dehydration. Water and some eye drops will take care of those problems. Munchies are likely – and you certainly know how to take care of those.

Negative Effects:

  • Paranoid: 3/5
  • Dry Mouth: 4/5
  • Dry Eyes: 4/5
  • Lethargy: 4/5

Medical Conditions

Medical marijuana patients suffering from all sorts of illnesses and pain tell us Dolato is one of the best strains they’ve found.

They say the full body melt is extremely effective against all types of chronic and serious pain, whether it’s from diseases and conditions like arthritis and fibromyalgia or systemic pain from back injuries, inflammatory bowel disease, or cancer. That also makes it, needless to say, able to ease everyday aches, pains, and cramps.

Meanwhile, the calming but euphoric high is valued by patients dealing with psychological problems like stress, anxiety, and depression; even conditions like OCD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD are said to respond well to Dolato. Of course, anxiety patients should be cautious in using this strain because of the possibility it could worsen their condition rather than improve it.

Flavor and Aroma

For a potent bud that comes from two pungent parents, Dolato is a beautiful strain with a surprisingly mild scent. It’s earthy and sweet, with notes of herbs, citrus, and pine. That doesn’t mean that this weed can be smoked on the down low with no one noticing, just that it’s not as loud as you’d probably expect.

The flavor is even more appealing than the aroma. Earth, pine, and herbs are among the dominant flavors, but there are also sweet berry and floral elements in the delicious mix of tastes you’ll experience.

Flavor and Aroma Ratings:

  • Earthy: 4/5
  • Citrus: 2/5
  • Fruity: 3/5
  • Spice: 2/5
  • Wood: 3/5

Cannabinoids and Terpenes

Dolato has more THC than almost any other bud you can buy at a dispensary or from a dealer. It averages a very impressive 25% THC content, and it’s not unusual to find batches of this strain containing almost 30% THC. That’s Cannabis Cup-worthy. CBD content is usually barely measurable, but CBG and CBC may come in close to 1%.

Limonene, bisabolol, terpineol, and caryophyllene are the terpenes responsible for most of Dolato’s flavor and taste, and they contribute to many of its medical benefits. Linalool, humulene, and myrcene are present at lower levels.

Lineage

There are rumors that the Cookies Fam created Dolato, but that’s never been confirmed. Most believe it was the work of an unknown breeder who crossed two revered strains, Gelato and Do-Si-Dos. More specifically, Gelato #41 is one of the two parent strains.

Do-Si-Dos is a potent and relaxing indica strain; Gelato #41 is even more potent and relaxing. Their influence is evident in the powerful high delivered by Dolato.

Where to Buy Dolato Seeds

Many of the big-name seed vendors carry feminized Dolato seeds. They include Home Grown Cannabis Company, Crop King Seeds, Blimburn Seeds, and Sonoma Seeds. Gelato Seeds sells an autoflowering version of this strain’s seeds, and you can purchase cloned plants from sources like Clonify and The Clone Conservatory.

Similar Strains

You won’t find many strains with a THC content as high as Dolato’s, but parent Gelato #41 is almost as heavy a hitter. Others to consider are Lava Cake strain, OG #18, and Glueberry.
